Institutional Impact

Measuring What We Build, and What Endures.

Brat Corps® measures impact by more than attendance, activity, or visibility.

We examine whether military brats are more connected, whether leaders are being developed, whether communities are becoming stronger, whether knowledge is advancing, whether heritage is being preserved, and whether the institution is building lasting capacity for future generations.

Our impact is reflected in people, relationships, places, opportunities, knowledge, experiences, and permanent institutional assets.

OUR APPROACH TO IMPACT

Brat Corps® was created to build a permanent home for military brats across every generation.

That responsibility requires more than delivering programs. It requires disciplined measurement, transparent reporting, responsible stewardship, and a long-term understanding of institutional value.

We evaluate impact across the complete Brat Corps® ecosystem, including:

  • Identity and lifelong belonging

  • Membership and community engagement

  • Leadership development

  • Education and opportunity

  • Destination experiences

  • Community development

  • Research and institutional knowledge

  • Heritage preservation

  • Philanthropic investment

  • Organizational strength and sustainability

The purpose of measurement is not simply to demonstrate activity.

It is to determine whether our work creates meaningful and enduring change.

FROM ACTIVITY TO LASTING IMPACT

  • Brat Corps® distinguishes between activity, outcome, and legacy.

Activity

  • What was delivered.

Examples include events held, members enrolled, courses offered, meetings convened, and partnerships initiated.

Outcome

  • What changed because of the work.

Examples include stronger connections, improved access to opportunity, leadership growth, new community partnerships, increased knowledge, and expanded participation.

Legacy

  • What remains after the immediate activity has ended.

Examples include:

  • A permanent Brat Corps® Post™

  • A new scholarship

  • An annual community tradition

  • A preserved oral history

  • A destination partnership

  • A housing or development initiative

  • A research publication

  • A trained leader

  • A stronger institution

Programs create activity. Outcomes demonstrate change. Legacy proves permanence.

STORIES OF IMPACT

  • Statistics explain scale.

  • Stories reveal meaning.

This section should feature verified stories from across the ecosystem, including:

A Military Brat Finds Their Community

  • A member reconnects with military brat identity after years outside military life.

A Young Leader Finds Their Voice

  • A student develops confidence through leadership, service, mentorship, or competition.

A Heritage Story Is Preserved

  • An older military brat records experiences that might otherwise have been lost.

A Community Builds Belonging

  • A destination or local partner creates new opportunities for military-connected residents and visitors.

A Partnership Creates Opportunity

  • An institution, university, company, or foundation helps expand education, housing, research, employment, or community impact.

Each story should identify the initiative involved and the measurable result without disclosing protected personal information.

Institutional Impact Reporting in Development

OUR COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY

Brat Corps® is committed to reporting impact accurately, responsibly, and without exaggeration.

We will distinguish among:

  • Verified results

  • Current initiatives

  • Pilot-stage activity

  • Strategic priorities

  • Future projections

A vision is not an outcome.

A projection is not an achievement.

An announcement is not impact.

Public reporting should clearly show what has been completed, what is underway, and what remains to be built.

HELP BUILD THE IMPACT

Institutional impact is created through collective action.

Military brats, families, volunteers, educators, researchers, communities, destinations, military installations, philanthropic partners, businesses, and public institutions each contribute to the mission.
